WhatsApp is an instant messaging platform owned by Meta. It allows users to send text, voice, photographic and video messages, make voice and video calls, as well as share documents, status updates, user locations and other content.

Problem Discovery

About 34.19 million people use WhatsApp today

Only about 1.5% of users make use of the WhatsApp Status feature

Initial Thoughts and Secondary Research

• Users dislike this feature because it is confusing. There are 2 status features and users are familiar with calling this feature ‘stories’

• There is limited customizability in terms of who can see your story. All contacts saved on your phone can view your story.
• They consider it an Instagram story knock-off.
